Creative Direction masterclass for Animation with Maurizio Forestieri (Nefertina, The Gabby and the Cat, Spike team, Totò Sapore)

Maurizio Forestieri is one of Italy's best-known animation directors. He has participated twice in the Cannes Film Festival and once in the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. Maurizio's work has been exhibited at MoMA in New York. In 1988 he founded the company Graphilm. He distinguishes himself in the market as both a creator and producer. He has contributed storyboards to some of Italy's most important productions such as Blue Arrow, Gabbianella e il Gatto and Aida degli Alberi. He worked as a 2D animator for many years with the masters of Italian animation, such as Guido Manuli, Pierluigi De Mas, Giuseppe Laganà, Emanuele Luzzati and Bruno Bozzetto. Maurizio has directed short films distributed worldwide. In 2003 he directed his first feature film Sapore, produced and distributed by Medusa. In 2012 he directed the animated film Cinderella - Una Favola in diretta, produced by Rai Fiction-RadaFilm and broadcast throughout Europe on Rai Uno. In 2015 he wrote and directed the animated series Bu Buum (26 eps x 26'), co-produced by Graphilm and Rai Fiction, broadcast on Rai Gulp, and distributed worldwide by Beta Film (Germany). He directed the documentary series Waterloo (5x10'), an EM Publishers-Rai Fiction co-production. In 2020 he works on the short film Hanukkah - The Festival of Lights. In 2021 he made the animated series Nefertine on the Nile (Graphilm, Rai Ragazzi, Waooh1, Cyber Group Studios) as well as the children's TV special The Case with which he won numerous awards. Currently, he is working on a new children's TV series project.

In 2022, he won the Pulcinella Award for Lifetime Achievement at Cartoons on the Bay.
