Maurizio Forestieri

Director

Maurizio Forestieri is one of the most renowned Italian animation directors. He has participated in the Cannes Film Festival twice and once at the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. Maurizio's work has been exhibited at the MoMA in New York. In 1988, he founded the company Graphilm. He stands out in the market as both a creator and a producer. He contributed as a storyboard artist to some of the most important Italian productions such as 'Freccia Azzurra,' 'Gabbianella e il Gatto,' and 'Aida degli Alberi.' For many years, he worked as a 2D animator alongside Italian animation masters like Guido Manuli, Pierluigi De Mas, Giuseppe Laganà, Emanuele Luzzati, and Bruno Bozzetto. Maurizio has directed short films distributed worldwide. In 2003, he directed his first feature film, 'Sapore,' produced and distributed by Medusa. In 2012, he directed the animated film 'Cinderella - A Live Fairytale,' produced by Rai Fiction-RadaFilm and broadcasted across Europe on Rai Uno. In 2015, he wrote and directed the animated series 'Bu Buum' (26 episodes x 26'), co-produced by Graphilm and Rai Fiction, aired on Rai Gulp, and distributed worldwide by Beta Film (Germany). He directed the documentary series 'Waterloo' (5x10'), a co-production of EM Publishers-Rai Fiction. In 2020, he worked on the short film 'Hanukkah - The Festival of Lights.' In 2021, he created the animated series 'Nefertine on the Nile' (Graphilm, Rai Ragazzi, Waooh1, Cyber Group Studios), as well as the children's television special 'The Case,' for which he received numerous awards. Currently, he is working on a new children's TV series project.

In 2022, he received the Pulcinella Award for his career at Cartoons on the Bay.
