Born in the 17th century, the celebrated art of Taiwanese puppetry (bùdàixì) comes to the big screen on the wave of one of the most beloved TV series in the East. Su-Huang-jen, a warrior who confronts hostile deities in pursuit of a mysterious manuscript and on the hunt for redemption, is one of the young protagonists of this first film, which serves as the origin of an endless transmedia universe consisting (since 1980) of toys, animated and comic book series, stores and theme parks scattered throughout Asia.
